  • Here’s a funny fact. Join your two hands as shown above. Let’s start :

    1. The thumb represents your parents. Now try seperating them apart, and they’ll easily open. They easily seperate because you are not destined to live with your parents forever. Now join the two thumbs back together.
    2. Next, separate your index fingers and they will open too because these fingers represent your siblings, and they’ll also lead their own lives in the future.
    3. The middle fingers represent yourself.
    4. Next separate your pinky(little) fingers. These fingers with open as well because, they represent your kids, who will also have a different life from yours, eventually.
    5. Lastly, try opening your ring fingers. You can’t right, this is because the ring finger represents both you & your spouse & no matter what you’ll remain together for the rest of your life.

On the taxi ride home today.
The taxi uncle raised a chat with me.
He was eating dinner before I entered.
I felt bad that I was disturbing his meal.
I apologized, and he said, "No, its okay, I was waiting anyway".
I kept quiet for awhile.
He adjusted his rear view mirror at me, and asked.
"What's wrong?"
I looked at him in dismay.
I said, "Nothing".
He asked, "Have you eaten?"
I shook my head.
Then slowly, I started to talk to him, on a more friendly term.
And I learned many things.
Stuff like creating a business, that Taxis drivers are Singaporeans, only.
Apparently, he was a businessman for 18 years, but due to the economic downturn.
Lost money in his business, so he closed it for awhile and turned to driving a taxi.
But, he said with a smile on his face, "But, I'll be back to business soon".
I was in awe.
He had hit rock bottom, yet he could still have such baseless optimism.

In this mere 5 minutes, I learned more about myself.
There was so much more to improve on.
He looked at the plastic bag I was holding.
And asked, "Present?"
I said, "Yea".
He continued, "You're a nice boy, buying presents for friends."
That made me really guilty.
If buying presents for friends made someone seem nice, then, many people would be nice.
In this world, apparently so, many aren't.
I, myself, felt I wasn't one.

Strange, how a taxi driver can really affect your thinking.
Before the last stretch of road to my house.
He suddenly said, "You've got a nice personality".
"Its good, many don't."
At that point of time, I didn't know what to say.
I could just shake my head in disagreement.
I paid my fare, and walked out, greeting him again.

That taxi driver, really made me feel better.
Even if its just for a little.

Oh well.
I've talked too much meaningless things.
Bye.

Just when the boy thought he wasn't alone anymore,
he blacked out.
And woke up, without a single memory before he blacked out.
Yet, he had this strange feeling.
He wanted to cry, but the tears wouldn't come out.
Even without a single memory,
he could feel this sense of loneliness creeping up upon him.
